A new home for this site
Out with the unfinished WordPress theme, in with something I built myself.
For a while this address pointed at a WordPress theme I never finished: stock pages, placeholder text and somebody else’s phone number. This replaces it.
The idea is simple: put the work first. The work page shows the products I’ve built, most of which I still run, and the photographs are there for anyone who’d rather look at those.
Under the bonnet
It’s a small Laravel application with no page builder, no theme and no build step: plain CSS and a few lines of JavaScript. The type is Geist, with Instrument Serif for the odd flourish. Photos are resized into WebP and JPEG when I upload them, and the location data is stripped out before anything goes public.
What goes here
These Field Notes are where I’ll write things down: code I’ve wrestled with, trips out with the camera, and probably the odd recipe.
